Zidormi, she gets around...

Now I knew that we would be able to go back in time to the Blasted Lands before the invasion before the pre patch came out. It's still a questing zone and people need to go there still.

Currently my top two chars are 'in the past' and refusing to leave. The one thing that I wasn't sure about at the time was where the timey-wimey person was going to be. The Blasted Lands are pretty big to put an npc so a quick Google later and I knew exactly where she was!

image

In fact, where is she not?
She's by the bridge to Theramore, in Dalaran and now in the Blasted Lands. To be in those places all at once she's certainly earning her wage as a 'Keeper of Time'.

Dalaran Zidormi teleports you to the Caverns of Time. Pretty handy as a southern entry point for the Alliance to go running off and doing what they need to.  (Thanks to MMO Champion being the only image of Dalaran that didn't have stuff all over it)

image

Theramore Zidormi let's you see (and use!) Theramore before Garrosh dropped a warhead on it. Handy for those Glorious Legplate farmers on Alcraz!

image

Finally, Blasted Lands Zidormi. She's on a rock to the left of the path going into the Swamp of Sorrows. Useful to get away from other 90's if you want to run around skinning rugged leather and also to use Nethergarde Keep.

image

She's a busy busy lady clearly... But still has time to reflect on the destruction going on around her. "Such a waste"

Indeed it is. Now send me into the past!

Raiding Roundup!

WoWScrnShot_102314_211341

SoO HC is where its at currently. The main prize is heirlooms from Garrosh, with the 100% drop rate for your spec, before they get removed from the loot table.

I now have a bow on Zionxi and a mace on Lilouann which suits me fine. As they are going to be the only two that I'm going to push to lvl 100, the rest can get there in their own sweet time.

As I'm writing this I'm drinking a beer and thinking about the things that have gone on this week. With the new patch it meant that our roster to do Mythic/old HC needed to double in size.  Gone are the 10 man days. People have also come and gone.  Some to pastures new, some to focus on real life.

With the flexibility in the new HC we can bring as many as want to come along to our shindigs. Which is handy. Theres also no longer a restriction on participation if you have already killed a boss, you can now come along and just forgo loot (like LFR).

Speaking of LFR this brings us nicely to our raiding on Thursday. First raid after reset we set off in the hunt for our last bits of gear that would tide us over. Now it was more of something to do together, on alts or mains, something to keep the fun there while we wait out the final few weeks of Pandaria.

We started off from the beginning. I went in alone and faced the trash. Pet on growl I started the attack. 85k health... easy. Well it was kinda. I died after pulling four of them and had a sympathetic "Oh Ella" over TS from Rawls. Everyone piled in and I pointed to the one I had managed to kill.
"Is this Normal?" Nullflow asked.
"No, HC" Rawls replied.
"Oh, it said normal..."
"Ella you muppet, you've got it on Normal! Everyone out!"

Resetting the instance we set to work, we went back in and the 80k health had gone up to 116k. "This is more like it!"

We cleared or way to the boss, during the split phase the blobs went down very quickly.
"I'd hate to have to try and do that blob achievement now"
"Some of us don't have it..." Rawls replied.
"Hah who?"
"Me"
"Don't you? Oh dear..."

Moving on to Norushen, after dispatching the Protectors, this boss is now as buggy as hell. As the screen shot at the top shows. This is what I saw while I was in the orb realm. I saw everything and everyone. My 'Tear Reality' was spawning on top of people so not only did I have to move, so did everyone else. The first time this happened I didn't kill a single thing and got out completely free of corruption and the large add had already spawned. It confused me and everyone else in the raid. Even though the dps phase was borked our rowdy bunch of alts (peppered with a few mains) made it through.

Sha was a mess. For the first two waves of the debuff, not one of the healers had Gift of the Titans so that was half the raid dead. Second attempt was a lot cleaner. Blizzard decided to make it up to us and it was dispels a go-go.

Through the portal to Ogrimmar, somehow I managed to land in the galley of the boat rather than on the deck. It was a better situation than when, many moons ago, I landed in the water and ended up swimming my way to the shore (and then nearly ran over a mine)
With the nerf on the health pools of the bosses and trash, Galakras is no longer a race to the end and now pretty much a spectator sport. It's now a boss where you want it to go down quickly but Blizzard say 'No.' and force you to stand there. The waves go down very quickly and you're left making your char jump around so that you don't fall asleep at your keyboard. You have to be quick on your toes to realise that the demolisher is nearly dead by the time it parks up and the bosses at the top of the towers don't have a chance to do their cone attacks before they're also face down in the dusty rooftops of Ogrimmar.

The loot piñata that is Juggers was next. We managed to kill a couple of people (again) but it was no real bother.
The fun began with the Dark Shamans. We put up markers for our run positions. We had two tanks so we would have to contend with everything on the lower floor. I was healing so as my calling of positions started off well it fell into just yelling at the tanks when they were or if range. Then the blobs came. And there were many deaths. We wiped up and started again.
"Just make sure you're in range and move out of the blobs" Blunnerz interjected.
We started again. We had the ashen walls everywhere they shouldn't be. We managed to navigate our way around the majority of them until somehow both Blunnerz and I got penned in by them on the path up the slope.
"Errrr. Are we trapped?" I asked, hoping that I'd overlooked an escape route.
"Yeah we are!" Blunnerz laughed.
I couldnt help it but I started giggling uncontrollably. The only two healers and we had both managed to get stuck while the remaining group ran away from us and everything that the bosses were throwing at them.
We had managed to make every mistake we could, so this time they were going down.
This attempt wasn't clean either. Clearly we had never gone back to this boss for a reason. Starting off well and moving when we needed to. I had balls on the right tank when they remembered to call out they were swapping! Out of my for eyes (I wear glasses) I had one eye on what was going on near me and the other three on the raid grid. I had to rely on people moving when they should and to the right marker.
We did get one wall to spawn in a building and we all made 'ooooh!' noises at it. We felt like we had won at WoW.
There was more enthusiasm for the wall than when the bosses both went face down into the mud. (Why have the Horde created a shanty town for their main city? The Blood Elves live in splendour, the Taurean have manicured lawns and pretty paintwork, even the Undead have a pretty nice city to 'live' in. The Orcs? Let's make things out of sticks and scrap metal...)

Anyway. There were some important lessons to be learnt.
Don't trap your healers like sheep in a pen.
Don't leave it so long before doing a boss again.
Don't expect your alts to do exactly why you can on your main (every time the blobs went down, a little voice in my head was begging for me to push my Barrage button)

there are screen shots which I will dig up. Once I'm back from having a coffee...

Patch day!

image

Patch day has arrived! Many yays!

So what happened?
To start with I went from this...

image

To this...

image

My first thing to address was my face. Man was I ug-ly. A trip to the barbers soon sorted that out. A little back alley cosmetic surgery and a cut and colour on my hair and I was good to go. As I ran out and watched my new pony-tail bobbing along and flapping as I jumped I had to have a little nerd-squee over it all. I was a beautiful creature! (until they re-do the Belfs... then I will be crying into my keyboard about how dumpy I am)

Others logged in and were puzzled that they looked like they had been hit by a truck.

Roly posted his 'face only a mother would love' on our forum.
image

image

I'd fixed my face and was feeling good about my char. I'd used Wowhead to check out how I would look when I logged in on patch day and sincerely hoped no one would see me. But after my face lift I really did like the look of my char. Until I saw her from the front.

image

What the actual F is going on my boobs?!? Unfortunately I can't have those sorted in a back alley barbers so the breastplate may have to go. /sob

I hadn't even really looked at my spells when I realised that there were some big holes in my action bar. Rapid Fire, Serpent Sting and Stampede were the first ones I noticed as I was hitting the keybinds and nothing was happening. Having a quick flick through my spell book nothing major had gone, and the ones that had I wasn't missing much. (Logging onto Lilouann and I was concerned when Mana Tide Totem wasn't there.)
I have to say I'd spent the best part of two months lamenting over how awful WoD was going to be with the spell removal and that Survival was ruined and I'd have to learn how to play Beast Mastery or I'd have to give up. The patch notes did not make it any easier to comprehend how it was going to affect you. On the PTR after only playing for a few hours my fears were subdued and I relaxed into the awesomeness of my Hunter.
image

I'd completed the first quests in the ptr so knew what to expect from them. Kill a load of this and blow up a load of that. Things went down so easy! Literally just running around pulling things until I had my quota. Handing everything in the quest line moves further up towards the portal. There's a little crater that is the base for the next set of quests.
Here you go on to poison and kill Ogres (standard Alliance quest right there) and you go into Nethergarde.
image

Here you have to find poles, trinkets and plans. They glow so you can find them easier than when they would just glitter. For the life of me I could not find the stupid mug. I ran around everywhere looking for it. I found a War-Wolf eating a dead horse (no word of a lie. It was there, face in the horses gut). I ran around inside the Keep. Clicking on every mug in there. Annoyed I ran out again and there it was, near the entrance that faces the Horde mines. On a table, under a gazebo...

image

After all of this I was far behind any normal player! The next part was to go into Okril'on to kill some dude. The way I'd been blasting through everything I wasn't expecting much and was surprised that Blizz thought that they would send in Maraad with you to do it.

The quest line was over. All I had to do was turn in to the King and I was done. Shiny title and pet.

People were commenting about the new Bonze Whelping that you can get as a rare drop from the Iron Horde. I decided to go back to Okril'on to kill everything there as they're were a lot of mobs and the respawn rate is so quick. I'd think I'd been killing them for about half an hour and it dropped. Quite a cute little thing. People are already selling them on the AH for 6k gold. Not sure if they will make that much currently but might be a nice little earner once the pre-patch event has ended!

Teenagers

image

image

Also while in a raid:

Apple: Shadow is boring.
Flinkan: Like my sex life.
Zionxi: I love shadow, you have birds!
Rawls: APPLE! RUDE!
Apple: What?
Blunnerz: That wasn't Apple that was Flinkan.
Rawls: Oh. Sorry Apple. FLINKAN! There might be children here!
Zionxi: There is.
Rawls: Well, yes.
Zionxi: Apple is too young to know what sex is.
Jollyjane: Of course he does, he's a teenager. He has more hormones than brain cells.
Apple: LOL. Such a father.
Rawls: Quote of the night right there.

Pre Patch! 6.0.2 The Iron Tide

America has it!

Pre patch has launched, the US website is up again and everything is being explored and tested across the pond.
The Dark Portal in the Blasted Lands has turned blood red. Hundreds of strange-looking orcs are violently pouring into Azeroth, killing everything that stands in their path. Nethergarde and Okril’lon have already fallen, and while the Horde and the Alliance moved as quickly as they could to get reinforcements to their people, they are too late. The Iron Horde invasion has begun.

In this desperate hour, King Wrynn and Warchief Vol’jin have called upon their greatest champions to join the front lines in the Blasted Lands and do whatever they can to stop the Iron Horde... Before the rest of Azeroth falls before them.
Prepare yourself. Draenor is waiting.

Exciting times!

Upper Blackrock Spire is available for lvl 90's now. So with that we can finally test the new group finder system!

Everything you worked so hard to reforge correctly? Gone. Everything has been put back as it was... expect to see some strange stats when you log in on the EU patch day!

All the ability pruning has come into play. So new rotations may need to be worked out and practiced on.

So what have people been saying?

well...

People are PISSED at the makeovers characters have had. Taurean females are being bashed as are characters whose hair doesn't move 24/7.

Fehnris 14 hours ago

@Rygarius: I dunno how you can call what was done to tauren females finished by copy and pasting the males fur pattern to them instead of giving them the fur pattern they had on the old model. And that's ignoring the goat grin they have now.

That and races seem to have uneven levels of work to them that scream unfinished. Female trolls have fully animated hair while many other races have no animated hair or hair only animated in certain animations like female draenei hair being animated only when walking.

Dela 14 hours ago

@Amaterásu: The main issues since artcraft came out in July (quite some time ago now) was:
Bear/Dog Nose. Are you a cow or something else?
Never ending smile in both mouth and eyes.
Never closing her mouth because reasons.
Losing her own fur patterns in place for male textures and less of them. One texture can ruin the face with the white stripes for players.

Warlocks are complaining about being nerfed :-/

Raìnbowdash 15 hours ago

Goodbye, Fel Flame.

(best. name. ever.)

Volnyx 14 hours ago

@Róku: Warlocks have been targeted for this expansion.. We were already nerfed to begin with.. the changes that they made is even worse for us..

Oh, well. I will not be PvPing as a caster in WoD.. It just seem so unfair compare to all the other melee classes or... HUNTER... LOL.

Scribes are SUPER PISSED about glyphs being learnt by everyone as they level. (I'm a scribe and apart from shoulder enchants I have done absolutely nothing with my profession for many many many months as glyphs don't shift, darkmoon cards are worthless and the staffs are pointless now)

Gotrik 1 hour ago

so basically inscriptionists got cut off at the ankles and the knees. they are no longer valid as a profession? that completely wasted a lot of time spent leveling inscription. so is there going to be anything added to still keep that profession worth it.

Redsteel 58 minutes ago

Pretty much this, bad move with the baseline glyphs Blizz. Inscription was already pretty pissweak to begin with...

Devouing Plague is causing brain hurt for priests

Rogerz 8 hours ago

Devouring Plague now heals for 2% of maximum health per tick (up from 1%).

Devouring Plague now always costs 3 Shadow Orbs, and now heals the Priest for 100% of all damage it deals, instead of healing per tick.

Something wrong here?

Selkara 1 hour ago

@Rogerz: I noticed that myself and I am beyond confused how that will work.

General crying

Glory of the Pandaria Hero part 1

image

All mogged up and with nowhere to go we decided to have a crack at some achievements.
Rawls, Danue, Omgimba and I had a quick look at our list to see what we were missing. Not many it turned out but still enough to keep us occupied. Mack was sat in our ts channel with us listening to what was going on.

image

We started with the Temple of the Jade Serpent to have a go at the ones in there. We cleared the library boss first as he didn't have anything attached to him and we needed a swift run through with the water buff to kill the Sha of Doubt.
The first one we tackled was Hydrophobia. Not to get hit by any water attacks while killing Wise Mari.
We did well making sure the corrupted waters were killed away from the group and we didn't stand in crap.
The problem came when we had to avoid the bubble beam. Stupidly I got hit by the beam and went flying amid peals of laughter and the occasional swear word.
"Well I've failed"
"Oh..."
"Oh Jesus Christ... I'm just going to stand in a corner"
"He's dead... Oh we all had it apart from Gio!"

Not so much of a fail then!

We ran off towards the next boss. Rawls and Gio went through the middle. Danue went round via the library and I back tracked and went via Wise Mari. Eventually we all regrouped and started the assault.
Mack at this point chipped in with "you need to click on some glowing shit in the corners before you kill the boss"
We had no idea what the glowing shit was so we just kept going. "We only have four minutes!" "It will be fine"
Panda down, we started on the little sha before the boss. "Omg we only have two minutes! Can we pull them into the room?" They were dead pretty quick as we started on the Sha of Doubt. After having one round of the floaty versions of ourselves we got him. Achievement spam in guild chat!
"We're we not supposed to click on things?"
Oops.

image

"Where to now?" Rawls asked.
"Kun-Lai?" I suggested.
"Is there a dungeon in Kun-Lai?"
"Oh haha, I don't know!"
"Why don't we go to Mogushan Palace?"
"Sure, to the shrine!"
"I'll make a portal!" Danue added. Clicky clicky and we were on our way.

Rawls said about the Quarrelsome Quilen Quintet achievement which sounded fun.
"So what do we do for that?" I asked.
"We have to loot jade quillens" Rawls started to explain.
"We have to kill everything?"
"I think so"

Multi shot was already poised to go and I pulled a group of five. Pretty soon there were only a few mobs left standing in corners and a whole heap of bodies strewn over the floor.

"I love how there's all this carnage going on and the mobs are just standing there while we murder their friends." I said as my multi shot hit three out of a group of four and the last one just stood there.
"The mobs are just to retarded to know what's going on. Great Blizzard AI there" Mack piped up with.

After looting them all and finding nothing, Rawls was confused.
"Hmmm"
"What are you doing?" Mack asked.
"The Quarrelsome Quilen Quintet"
"Oh they're little bits of green shit you have to find and click on"
We had started the first boss already when Mack told us there was one in this room. The excitement for the hunt was more than than the excitement for a raid.
Defeating it I ran back to the first trash room and started poking in corners. Directly opposite where you come in, I went up the short at of steps and had a poke around.
"OH MY GOD IVE FOUND ONE!!!"
I ran back to join them on the hunt in the boss room.
image

"OH MY GOD IT FOLLOWS YOU. IT'S SO CUTE!!!!"
Everyone stopped to have a look. Several seconds of cooing followed and then everyone was off again to search.
"I've got one!" Gio shouted in a slightly robot voice with a little buzz at the end for good measure, much to Macks amusement.
"Did anyone used to watch Treasure Hunt with Anika Rice?" I asked. Hesitantly revealing which decade I was born in. Rawls said he did remember it. (yay!)
Running off Gio spotted another one in a hole in the wall of the tunnel.
"Good spot!"
"Aw I can't reach it..."
Rawls jumped on the blue fire thingy and then finally got it.
Now we just needed to find one for Danue.
These little critters were so cute. Pouncing around, play fighting and pawing at each other.
image

It was a shame we couldn't keep them.
We found one in one of the cupboards/vaults where the Saurok are. And tried to take a photo of them all but were interrupted by the pesky adds running up. We got a few and then went on to kill the boss here and moved on.

Before the big boss room is two small rooms that are offset. They have mobs in there and an orb each. One room also contains the last pup which you can find by using the orb and that then blows up a big quilen statue. We took some more photos and then activated the second orb.
"Hard mode" Rawls said.
image

We went into the room with the boss, cleared the trash that was wandering up and down and then Rawls activated the defense system and a bunch of knives started flying across the room.
"I can't get through that to target the boss." I said as I clicked on my pets growl to see if he was out of range too. He wasn't and went running off.
"Or you can use your pet" Rawls added.
Coffee, my Quilen got aggro. Pulling the boss and the four Quilen around him.
We were slaughtered.
Shrieks, cussing and laughter were all over ts.
"I think we need a tank" was mused as we stared at our corpses.
"What's happened?" Mack asked, with only what we were saying to go by, he had no idea how quickly the pull had turned into carnage.
"We just got flattened"
"Maybe you should pull the dogs first?" Gio asked.
"Yeah, I thought that's what you were going to do!" Added Rawls.
"Your group sounds perfect" Mack chucked in, laughing at our misfortune.

He offered to join and asked for an invite. Lisathedark showed up as logging in.
"Ooh pulling out the big guns..."
"We can just stand behind him. Jesus Christ you have more health than me and I'm the tank" Rawls spluttered.

We tried again. Switch was activated. Knives were everywhere and before the boss had gotten his lazy ass of his throne and down to us, he was dead.

"Did we get it?"
"No?"
"Oh we needed to use the weapons against him... He needed to be pulled into them..."
"Yeah we didn't really get that far!"

Alcaz island

800px-WorldMap-DustwallowI really should get out more often in WoW. There are some places I regularly go to around Pandaria and a few places I go to in Eastern Kingdoms but Kalmidor? Not really unless it's Winterspring for ore.

Two guild mates had recently been farming for the Glorious Legplates and had been circling between three sites for them to drop. One of them was Hive'Regal in Sithilis. The other was at the southern point in Winterspring (where the back entrance to Mount Hyjal is) and the third place was Alcaz Island. Why these three areas? Well Blizzard helpfully removed the mobs of the right level for these Legplates to drop so the three areas above contain mobs as close as you will get. This does mean that you have to suffer through a vastly reduced drop rate and as a Game Master said "there's a chance they will drop but also a chance they won't ever drop. Just keep killing things".

When one of them mentioned this last place it caught my attention. I was sure is heard of it before and even been there... I looked it up and had an investigate of where exactly it was. Near Theramore. I had been there! While I was leveling!

I'd happened upon it while questing and needed to kill divers around the wrecks. I'd seen the elite hydras from a safe distance and decided it was in my best interests to leave them well alone. The sight of elites anywhere always sparks interest and I was sure that when I had leveled up a bit from the Dustwallow Marsh levels, I'd be back. Alas, I completely forgot about it until now.

I flew over to find it compleyely deserted. Nothing there at all... I couldnt work out why there was nothing here, wondered if I needed to do sme quests to see things again... Then I did remember that there is a person you can speak to on the bridge going into Theramore to turn back the time. I'd clearly been here vaguely recently but only to play about in the 'before' Theramore and hadn't ventured any further afield.

252px-Zidormi

I spoke to this lovely lady/dragon and she kindly turned back the time for me so I could interact with the area before Theramores destruction. After telling me it was "Such a waste..." I flew off towards the island again, wondering if it worked that far out or if it was just for the Theramore itself and I'd somehow lost the opportunity to see the mobs they're again.

I got to the dock and they were there! Hurrah!
image

There were Hydras everywhere near where I landed, one was even being taken for a walk (cute). There's been speculation on if the Hydras are native to the island or have been summoned by the Naga who are here in the phased version of the island. One would guess that they were summoned or they would still be there once the Naga disappeared.
Considering the similarity of this island, with its tropical vegetation, to the Echo Isle that is a stones throw away and the Naga that gatecrash the Troll starting zone it could be possible that the two are linked in some way.
image

Flying around a bit more I came across the huts and the pesky Naga, more Hydras and some little gnomes guarding an aircraft. More interestingly was the abandoned and derelict Alliance Tower at the top of the hill.
image

This did catch my imagination and caused me to do some digging into the history of the island. I found out... Not a lot. Apart from that there is a large amount of love for this place among rp guilds and that the King was held here in the dungeons. THERE'S DUNGEONS??? THE KING WAS HELD HERE???

Shamefully, it took me running into every hut to try and work out how to get underground. The massive open trapdoor wasn't a big enough clue clearly at the time but eventually I was under.
Above ground, there are lots of grills on the floor which you can see into. Below ground there is no correlation to where these are positioned. The ceiling is solid. Is there another level of tunnels somewhere?

image

Going below the tunnels now have Naga in them (joy) and the standard dungeon 'creepy stuff'. There was nothing out of the ordinary to show the past use of this place and after swimming through the waterlogged passage to get to where the lone Naga now stands/the King was kept there was nothing monumental there either. Why does this place have a dungeon in the first place?

Was Theramore actually a cover for contraband smuggling? Could the Naga not resist getting their webbed hands on some illegal goodies and therefore ambushed whoever was stationed out here and it wasn't defended as no one could find out the real reason behind the using of the island? There are lookout towers (surrounded by trees so pretty difficult to see anything) and a lighthouse to steer normal ships away from it, so maybe! The Defias used this place to hold the King so maybe it was them that built the tower and made it out to look like it was an Alliance outpost to cover their shady dealings (I have no idea what the true lore is behind the island so this is just me being pumped on coffee and letting my imagination run riot about 'what could have been')

The iron maidens were not to torture people! They were used to hide the smuggled sweets from the Stormwind vendor to sell on outside Ogrimmar!

I'm going to stop now.

Orcs need sweets too!

Really, now I'm stopping.

One point to consider is that there are stocks and gallows on the island. This place meant business to whoever was unfortunate to end up here. Theramore isn't so lovely once you know that beneath the beautiful cobbled streets they had a system of underground dungeons where they held law breakers.

Duskwallow Alcaz Island Camp

Taken from WoWWiki:
Despite this internal debate, the Alliance places a high value on law and order in Theramore, and city guards make regular patrols to maintain the peace. When skirmishes break out between high elves and night elves or a dwarf gets too rowdy, the guards are quick to round up the offenders for a speedy trial at the Foothold Citadel and imprisonment in Ironclad Prison, the dungeons of which are along tunnels dug deep into the rock of the island. Sentences for fighting and disturbing the peace tend to be light (usually only a few days' incarceration), but sentences for more serious violations of the Alliance's code of law, such as high robbery or murder, can be much more severe

Do the Gallows serve as the point where sever lawbreakers of Theramore meet their doom? Did the dungeons and tunnels once lead to Alcaz itself? Is it these possible executions that are causing the Theramore guards to question whats going on and to abandon their posts?

Having gallows on an island where they wouldn't be used is a little odd. They're made out of wood so some time and effort went into them, the lookout posts could be there to keep an eye on any possible escapees as they are not high enough to give a clear vision of the area around the island due to the tree height. The huts themselves are similar to the camp huts where Thrall was in the Escape from Durnholde  dungeon. So maybe it is completely an abandoned prison camp. Just like Alcatraz itself.

I'd love some proper lore about this place and what it actually was before it was abandoned and overrun by nasties.

One thing that is puzzling... How come Dr. Wevil and his minions are not constantly under attack by the Naga?
